Don Allen – Core Subject MLPT Teacher
Don Allen is a graduate of Hamline University School of Education where he earned his Masters of Arts in Education and is continuing his education to include other graduate degrees and licenses. A native Minnesotan and product of the St. Paul Public Schools (kindergarten at Como Elementary, Maxfield Elementary circa 1966-1971), Allen’s path has come full circle.
In November 2016, Allen joined the staff at Gordon Parks High School as the core subject teacher for the Middle School Program (7-8).
“I am humbled to be here and welcome the challenges ahead. I am also one who believes there is not an achievement gap. The term is metaphysical and only has meaning to the person using at the time to explain an opportunity that should be expanded upon, but for the most part goes on as a statistic. I look forward to sharing, learning and keeping classroom expectations very high by putting first-things-first to create a new deal for urban families; education is the key to success.”
Mr. Allen’s current works in progress:
1. What makes a Veteran-Friendly College or University Campus?
(Hamline University Digital Commons - 2017)
2. Examining the Propaganda of Constraints: The Evolution of “James”
Crow in Urban Education (Pending)
