Ms. Shariff

Welcome to 3rd grade! I am so excited to join the kiddos on their journey through grade 3, to the moon and beyond. My classroom philosophies are to learn from and support each other, promote kindness and empathy with each other and throughout our world, and learn self-awareness and self-regulation to be your absolute best. I am a learner along with my students, and we learn from each other and grow on our way.

This is my 4th year at Capitol Hill. Previously, I taught 2nd and 6th grade, and loved each for their own reasons. 3rd grade is special to me, and one that I remember fondly. That was the year I discovered Choose Your Own Adventure books, and oh-how I wish those were still being written!

A little about me: My journey into my classroom began with conversations about Harry Potter with avid readers in the bookstore I managed. Those conversations are far from over. I absolutely love to get and give book recommendations, especially with my students. I earned both my Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota (go Gophers!). I am originally from Chicago, Illinois, and currently live in St. Paul. My loves include: reading (of course!), history, politics, soccer, traveling and getting lost in museums, design, origami, word puzzles and games, Legos, the Simpsons (and Simpsons Legos, which is the best crossover ever), and Indian food.

You can typically reach me after school via phone, or preferably through email. ***If you have an urgent, time-sensitive message, please call the main office (not the classroom), and a message will be delivered promptly. I will do my very best to reply to correspondence within 24 hours. Thanks in advance and I look forward to a totally wonderful year!
