Greetings! This is my third year at Capitol Hill teaching, my first teaching 5th grade here. I spent the past two years broadening my horizons through teaching middle school; I am happy to be back in an emementary classroom. I missed the community that comes from having the same group of kids for most of the day. I am looking forward to building that community with this group of learners and working with your child as they grow as scholars.
I have been a teacher in Saint Paul Schools for many years: as a multi-age 4/5/6 grade teacher at Expo and Open School, directing the Multicultural Resource Center, and, most recenty, as a Gifted Specialist at Phalen Lake Hmong Studies Magnet. To these experiences I also bring my love of questioning, learning, and the challenge of how best to meet the individual needs of students.
Some interesting (mostly) things about me:
I grew up in New York City and moved to MN to attend Macalester College.
I worked at the American Museum of Natural History while attending graduate schoolmat Bank Street College of Education.
I live in St. Paul with my husband and two elementary school aged sons.
I love being outside, especially with my family...watching soccer games, fishing, and hiking are all fun for me.
I love to travel and have been to every state but Idaho!
I am a Maker: book arts, soft circuits, glass fusing, lampwork, and my latest interest--Arduino.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns about your child or his or her classwork.
